I keep a sound system out at Johnny Fins for the bands that either don't own their own sound system or don't want to load it in and out via the steep hill that connects the parking lot to the club. Last night was the first show of the season using that system and I mixed Undiskovered for a 9pm-12am show. The band was great and there were plenty of people there from the Lake Travis Powerboat Association. They were having a party to kick off one of their "poker runs".

It was another packed house at Cool River Cafe with The Newsboyz. There was a problem with one of their video feeds, so we didn't do the multi-camera video setup we normally do. I just ran the logo DVD on all three screens behind th stage. I took some pictures using a technique called "dragging the shutter", where the shutter speed is set relatively slow to expose the background and the flash freezes the subject in the foreground. I mixed The Newsboyz at Sherlock's Pub last night. I fogot my camera, so I borrowed Jason's (Newsboyz guitarist). His camera had an on-camera flash, which caused massive "red-ey", so I had to run them through Photoshop and the "red-eye" tool.Here's a link to the photos:

I sent off my design for The Newz business cards. I made this design by photographing the stock market page from the Austin American Statesman and mapping the image to a plane inside discreet 3DS Max. I then set up a virtual camera and virtual lights to create the specific point of view for the background images on the front and back of the cards. The lettering consisted of 3D text inside the 3DS Max environment that was lighted with another set of virtual lights.Here's a link to both sides of the business card:

I mixed The Newsboyz at Carlos & Charlie's yesterday. Sunday is my favorite day to do a show out there. Although I don't mind the wild and crazy Fridays and Saturdays there, I definitely like to spend a relaxing Sunday evening there with their earlier Sunday showtime (6pm-10pm). My family can even come out and enjoy hanging out with other families for the early portion of the show. The food is good and it's a good way to end the week before starting all over again.
